But whenever we lose a session the reality of things can get a little muddied. There’s every chance Stoner just found a setting that worked well straight away and everyone else is a session behind in working their way up to speed. Jorge Lorenzo, in particular, struggled today and ended the morning in an almost unbelievable eight position.
As such he’s as long as for a win. Despite that excellent price, I’m not tempted as I just can’t see a Lorenzo win here. It’s not a track the Yamaha likes, nor Jorge, and all the Hondas have been extremely strong thus far. He has drifted to for a Top 3 however and that’s well worth a look as there’s no way Lorenzo will be running around in 8th come Sunday. Read more on Motogp Betting
Stoner was quickest on Friday and is a favourite currently. It’s a long price for the Australian but that has a lot to do with the unpredictable nature of the circuit right now and how close the top guys are. Stoner said yesterday this was easily his least favourite circuit of the season and he doesn’t trust the surface.
If it comes to a dog fight on Sunday there’s no question he won’t risk crashing and will happily settle for a podium. That said, he’s proved time and time again in 2011 that Betting against him is to be done at your own peril ‘ in that light is excellent value and you won’t see a Stoner price that good for for some time.
It’s the start of an important double headers for Scotland as they prepare to take on Lichtenstein on Saturday. If Scotland can defeat Lichtenstein (something they struggled to do back in September 2010 at Hampden, when they needed a 97th-minute injury time winner to see off the battling Lichtenstein) then they travel to Alicante on Tuesday looking to take something from the home of the World Champions ‘ Spain. If Pedrosa can get away early he’s always a chance but I cant believe he’s as short as , home race or not. Oddly I think the biggest part Pedrosa will play this weekend will be denying Stoner. Lorenzo will be desperate to lead as soon as possible and gap the field as he’s done of late.
Pedrosa will get his usual rocket start which will most likely see Stoner stuck behind him. During the last two races Casey has had better pace than Pedrosa but has been unable to get past him, effectively letting Jorge off the hook. Casey, if his arm pump doesn’t return, is more than likely the only guy who can run Jorge’s pace come Sunday and he needs to be right with him from the first few laps. Read more on Motogp Betting
Pedrosa, who matched Rossi until lap the third last lap at Shanghai, said ‘I’m looking forward to getting to Le Mans. We will have a lot of work to do and we want to work hard to prepare as well as possible for the race. This is the fifth race of the year and it is also the start of the busiest part of the season with seven grands prix over ten weekends.
The most exciting part of the Le Mans track is after the first chicane, going downhill and through the long-right hander. The most complicated section is the final few corners after the second chicane. The most important factors at Le Mans are good acceleration and good brakes. You also need to make sure that you choose exactly the right gearbox ratios. And you need to ride aggressively.’ Pedrosa expresses worries as to the prevailing conditions, namely rain and cold, despite finishing 4th in the Le Mans rain last year. Team-mate Nicky Hayden arrives seeking his first podium finish of the season. The American rider has been close, finishing 4th at Jerez and sliding off at Estoril, when likely to finish in the top three.
